Former Bullet Signs with UNO
Phillip Ivey, currently a senior at Sulphur High, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at the University of New Orleans. Ivey is one of only six recruits brought in by the Privateers to complement a relatively young team. Listed as the third top prospect out of Louisiana, 49th nationally, the Privateers feel fortunate to land this young recruit.
Ivey is expected to make an immediate impact offensively and defensively. He is listed as second baseman and catcher, but coach Tom Walter said he should add depth to all infield positions.
“He will likely be an All Conference Player by his sophomore year.”, says coach Walter.
One of his highlights of his career was playing in the Louisiana class 5A state championship game as a freshman. As a junior at Sulphur High, he batted .333 with four homeruns and 25 RBI’s.
Before Phillip Ivey was lighting it up for the Tors, he was refining his game at Bullet Baseball under coach James Landreneau. This is a trend that is only growing stronger. As many of the original Bullet Baseball players are nearing their final years of high school, you’ll be hard pressed to find many local baseball recruits that don’t have a Bullet cap in their closet.
We at Bullet Baseball are very proud of Phillip Ivey for all his accomplishments. He has carried his work ethic and leadership from Bullet to Sulphur High and now on to a national collegiate level. Good luck Phillip. Keep making us proud.
