Von Rosenberg Signs with LSU

Tigers sign Von Rosenberg

Zach Von Rosenberg became Bullet Baseball’s first ever LSU commitment when he signed a letter of intent in early November.  Nobody was more surprised than Zach when LSU made such an early offer in the spring.

“LSU is where I always wanted to play”, says Von Rosenberg. “I grew up following them and I always wanted to wear the uniform”.

Those that watched Zach grow up in South Lake Charles aren’t quite as surprised.

“Zach was fascinating to watch.  He was the best at everything and he still wasn’t satisfied.  His first class work ethic was driven by his pure love of the game.”, said one little league parent.  “He is very deserving and LSU will be lucky to have him.”

Lucky indeed!  Wherever Von Rosenberg plays, he brings championships.  That’s three in a row.

As a freshman at Barbe High School, Von Rosenberg posted a 10-1 record with 1.30 ERA.  Not to be one dimensional, he batted.474 with 20 RBI’s and 3 HR’s.  He was also the winning pitcher in the 5A State Championship game.

As a sophomore at Zachary High School, he earned a 9-4 record with a 1.84 ERA and batted over .400.  He pitched his Broncos to a 4A state title.

As a junior, he battled back from injury to win 12 games to only one loss.  His .49 ERA  and 117 strikeouts helped him earn Louisiana’s Mr. Baseball award.  In his third championship game in as many years, Von Rosenberg carried a perfect game into the sixth inning with two outs before giving up a hit.  He settled for a one hit shutout and his third straight state championship.

“Everybody has always had such high expectations of Zach.” Said James Landreneau, who coached Zach for two years at Bullet.  “But he has always found a way to exceed those expectations.”

LSU’s  luck could run out in June.  Many predict Von Rosenberg to be drafted within the first four rounds.  Baseball America has him rated as the 36th top high school prospect.  Big money signing bonuses are hard to pass up and often overshadow college dreams.  Zach will likely have a tough decision to make.

Wherever Zach ends up, he’ll be successful.  Not only does his play make his teammates better players, but his character makes the people around him better people.  An excellent role model that has been mentoring young ballplayers since he was ten.

A great baseball player.  A better person.
