Bullet Incorporates Nike SPARQ into Program
Bullet Incorporates Nike SPARQ into Program

Bullet Baseball and Heath Doucet team up to bring the world renowned Nike SPARQ training program to local athletes.  Starting January 5th, Bullet will incorporate the SPARQ drills into the everyday workouts.  These drills will increase the overall athleticism of each Bullet player.

SPARQ stands for speed, power, agility, reaction and quickness.  The program was designed by Nike executives and Professional master trainers as a means of measuring and training athletes entering their college or professional careers.

Although already in Lake Charles, SPARQ  made its first big splash in the area last year when the Barbe Baseball team was evaluated and won the Nike SPARQ Team Challenge. The Nike SPARQ team went nationwide evaluating the top 100 high school baseball programs and awarding the five best teams a 2009 sponsorship.

Heath Doucet is the only Nike SPARQ certified trainer in the area and has been training in the area since 2005.  Bullet players were able to experience the program first hand when coach Heath put on a clinic at the Bullet complex in the fall.  Every player had such a significant increase in SPARQ rating that coach James Landreneau decided to make Nike SPARQ a part of his program.

Bullet Baseball’s newly added high school summer program will also go through the training and could benefit the most.  Much of the testing is the same testing that you’ll find at collegiate and professional scouting combines.

“The Nike SPARQ training program will give our players an advantage at college combines because they will have run the tests already and the drills target these specific tests for increase.” says James Landreneau.

Bullet Baseball is already regarded as one of the top youth baseball programs in the south.  The addition of the Nike SPARQ training program will further separate them from the competition.
